SUSAN GRANUCCI established a health care reimbursement business in 1984 to provide services to the medical community in connection with health insurance billing, coding and reimbursement. She has worked with over 200 provider and payer clients ranging from physicians in solo practice to university-sized medical groups and hospitals. HMOs, Medicare and Medicaid are also included as clients. Areas of expertise include reimbursement issues involving Medicare and Medicaid, claim coding and filing procedures, fee development, and appropriate documentation and charging patterns for most medical specialties. She has conducted workshops nationwide.

Susan has developed training manuals on documentation requirements for teaching hospitals and mental health centers, and has published nationally on the financial impact of Medicare participation.

More recently, Susan has specialized in serving providers of chemotherapy, radiation therapy and surgical oncology. She has worked with both free-standing and hospital-based physicians and hospitals, and has developed methods to maximize revenues through appropriate, accepted standards of billing. She has also provided financial projections for new practices, and practices which are changing relationships with hospitals.

Prior to starting her own business, Susan was an 18 year employee of the Equitable - Medicare Administration, beginning with the inception of the Part B Medicare program. At Equitable, she was responsible for development of reasonable charge pricing files, utilization screens, program integrity (fraud and abuse), and implementation of program policies and assuring their compliance by both the medical community and the carrier staff. She also assisted in establishment of carrier reimbursement policies by meeting with physician consultants on a range of complex coverage issues. She continues her close association with Medicare / Medicaid personnel and their policies in order to assist clients with the complexities of continuous program changes.

A graduate of the University of New Mexico, Susan is currently a member of Hospital Financial Management Association, Medical Group Management Association, the New Mexico Hospitals and Health Systems Association, Radiology Business Management Association, and Association of Cancer Executives.
